Tows finished the year on a high with a win away at Nuneaton, their fifth victory on the bounce.

While they sit fifth in the League, they are fourth in the form guide – not bad for a promotion side and a fact that bodes well for 2012.

Nuneaton’s heavy pitch played into the hands of the hosts and for the first time this season Tows faced conditions that did not suit them.

From the kick off, they were under pressure and conceded a string of penalties. Nuneaton took advantage through fullback Jody Peacock who crossed for an unconverted try.

After Tows full back James Falvey narrowly missed a penalty, the visitors gradually edged their way back into the game.

Returning to the Tows fold like prodigal son after a stint working in London, it was Chrissie George who breached the Nuneaton defences.

He crossed near the posts for Falvey to convert and Tows to take the lead for the first time.

Nuneaton resorted to a kicking game and won a penalty which scrum half Leigh Jones converted to put the hosts 8-7 up at the break.

The second half became a pitched battle in heavy mud and driving, cold rain.

A drive down the middle from skipper Marc Yeates and No 8 Matt Bodily provided a platform for a back move which put in winger Adan Wilkinson.

James Falvey missed the conversion but added a later penalty to secure the win and cap a near perfect December for Tows.
