Your News Old Northamptonians set for 4 Nations tour

OLD Northamptonians will play four matches against opposition in Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England inside 24 hours in May in a charity fund-raising tour.

A 35-strong tour party, plus five support crew, will play Grosvenor RFC in Ireland, Wigtownshire in Scotland, Chester and Wrexham in Wales to raise funds for the clubs recently-formed Benevolent Fund.

The squad of adult players will travel by coach from Northampton to East Midlands Airport, fly to Belfast and then play Grosvenor at 3pm on May 5.

The Old Northamptonians squad will then travel by ferry to Scotland where they will play Wigtownshire at 11pm.

A long coach journey will then give the players an opportunity to catch up some sleep before they play Chester at 9am on May 6 before the tour ends at Wrexham.

The squad will then return to Northampton to celebrate their achievement with a party in their clubhouse attended by 200 people.

The Old Northamptonians Benevolent Fund is a registered charity and is used to assist those that require financial assistance to partake in rugby, whether it is to assist with playing membership, playing or coaching kit and equipment or help with rehabilitation.

The Fund has already helped provide tag rugby equipment for Hopping Hill Primary School .

Old Northamptonians hope that their Four Nations Tour will raise more than 10,000 for the Fund.
