Blaydon crashed to a 5th consecutive defeat, their biggest so far, with all the fireworks coming from the home side and in particular fly-half Rory Teague who contributed 23 points with 2 tries, a penalty and 5 conversions.

Not having beaten Cinderford in any of the last 6 encounters the Crow Trees side had little reason to be optimistic, and in the event contributed much to their own downfall by constantly kicking away good possession.

The start could not have been much worse for them as Cinderford hit the blocks running and had notched up 17 points after just 16 minutes, Teague, skipper Adam Nichols and prop Joe Smart all crossing the Blaydon line.

When Blaydon did get their hands on the ball however they hung on to it in the forwards and after good work by Matt Hall, scrum half Matt Mellish crossed near the posts and Andrew Baggett added the conversion. The revival continued with Matt Clark adding a second score from a Niall Rowark mis-move but by the interval Cinderford had ran in 2 more tries through Bill Foden and Rob Winchel, taking it to 29-12.

Teague added a penaty to the home score but Blaydon, with the forwards well on top, took control for the first time and were rewarded with a try in each corner by lock Chris Wearmouth and blindside flanker Ben Morris. With the deficit down to 10 points Blaydon then moved it through 15 pairs of hands in the best move of the game only to lose possession to an interception when a try had looked certain.

Crucially Cinderford ran it back from one line to the other for Simon James to touch down, and the Blaydon moment had gone. Teague, James again and Wilson hammered home the Cinderford advantage with further scores leaving Blaydon to lick their wounds and take home only a 4 try bonus point.
