Caretaker coach Tom French could not have asked for a better start as Barking became the first side this season to topple league leaders Ealing. Former

Wasps prop French stepped into the breach following the resignation of Head Coach Martin Jones in the build- up to the game and saw his side recover from

being 15 points down to win 22-20.

The game at Goresbrook was just one of a number of closely- fought encounters in National League One at the weekend. Four other games resulted in the

losing side picking up a bonus point for finishing within seven points of the opposition. Just one point separated the sides at the Butts Park Arena where

Coventry, who led 23-0 at half- time, were forced to withstand a rousing comeback from Rosslyn Park. In the end, Park had to be content with two bonus

points having also scored four tries in the 30-29 defeat. The drama in the west Midlands also extended to Stourton Park as Stourbridge claimed their first

home win of the season thanks to a last- gasp penalty try against Wharfedale.

The game between Sedgley Park and Cinderford was another that could have gone either way, the Tigers eventually taking the spoils of victory, 21-17, while

a try from Michael Le Bourgeois, with time running out, was enough to give Jersey the points in a first- ever trip to Blaydon.

Elsewhere, Tynedale and Cambridge both racked up over 40 points in big home wins and Fylde inflicted a fourth straight loss on Macclesfield.
