Sponsored Truck Pull in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital and the new Clubhouse – this Saturday October 30th, Brands Hatch

You may be aware that Tom Robertson has been working extremely hard to organise a sponsored truck pull for the U16s and all other Junior players at Brands Hatch on October 30th which is in aid of Great Ormond Street and the new Clubhouse. GOSH is very close to Tom and Sarah’s hearts and they have always wanted to raise money for this superb institution, so here are the details

· On Saturday October 30th the boys will be invited to a major truck racing festival where they will pull a large lorry about 100m in front of a large crowd, possibly as many as 30,000!

· The event will be live on Sky TV - yahoo, they will be media stars!!!

· Tom is hopeful that his suppliers, customers and business friends will help us to raise a lot of money 75% of which will go to GOSH and the rest towards the new Clubhouse

· They will be pulling the truck (from Tom’s company Day Aggregates) 100m up to the finishing line around lunch time – exact times to be confirmed

· Brands Hatch Thistle hotel has offered to do a barbeque for all the players and parents at a reasonable price

· I am aware that Kent has a game that day but we really need everyone else to be available to get involved

· I have rescheduled our game v Gosport for later in the season so no excuses not to be there

The new clubhouse will be an important part of your son’s playing career for as long as he continues to be a member of SRFC, which we hope will extend into adulthood, but it has to be paid for. The committee has launched its buy a brick campaign, but this is a way for our special group to give something back and raise vital funds for GOSH – please reflect for a moment how lucky most of us have been not to have to use its services but, as most of us have children, it is a huge comfort and insurance policy to know that it is there. In times when young people are being vilified as feckless rioters, this is an opportunity for our boys to get national media exposure proving that not all young people are useless….and excellent PR for the club.

We need as much support as possible. Tom has asked every squad member to raise £50 as a minimum but it would be great if every parent’s business could contribute financially – we will be selling advertising space on the truck and doing other forms of fundraising. We hope to raise in excess of £20,000 which would make a massive difference to the clubhouse project, so please pledge to get involved and support this fantastic project.

Tom has put a massive amount of effort into this and has dealt patiently with some ridiculous red tape to make it happen, so please support him and the project. I will be in touch with more detail soon but PLEASE STICK THIS ONE IN YOUR DIARY AND BOOK THE DAY OUT – then tell as many people as you can!
