Your News Newquay U10 45 - Newlyn U10 15

It was a blustery day that greeted Newquay's first home game of the season. Newquay started brightly with Ben Hunt making a great side step past the Penryn defensive line to go over early on. Penryn responded well winning a scrum against a Newquay put in to drive forward to level the score. With some big forwards the scrum was an area that they would continue to dominate throughout the game, however with the Newquay defense in fine form their scoring opportunities were limited. Ben Hunt scored once more followed shortly after by a fine free-flowing passing move involving five or six players which saw Ewan Gilroy-Simpson score on the left. Excellent rucking and support play saw Ethan Reed make one of his typical driving runs to force his way over before Penryn capitalised on a penalty to pull one back. However, Lewis Edwards made a great run through on the left to re-establish the margin shortly after and from then on Newquay were in command. Reed once more drove through the middle before Finn Collins showed excellent pace to carry the ball over on the left. Lewis Edwards made a great pass out to his namesake Lewis Hollings who ran the legth of the left touchline to score. Penryn responded with a well worked passing move to go over in the corner and pull one back. Evie Longworth made a great run through the middle supported well by Jack Higginson and slick passing saw Eddie Pearce through to lengthen the lead. A brilliant jinking run from Eddie moments later was to see him over for his second and the final score of the game. It was difficult to pick a player of the match with everyone putting in a great performance but Lewis Edwards took the honours for great support play.
