Oakham School, last season’s beaten finalists in the Daily Mail RBS Schools Under-18 Cup, will begin their attempt to reach Twickenham again with a trip to Leicester GS in the second round.

Oakham, who won the cup in 2002 and 2003, were given a bye through the first round while Leicester GS edged out city rivals Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth I College 22-12.

Warwick School, the other previous winner of the Under-18 competition from the Midlands, were given a first round walkover following the withdrawal of Campion School from Northamptonshire.

The Hinckley-based college beat Harris School 41-12 in the first round but then went down 24-19 at home to Rugby School who will now host their near neighbours Lawrence Sheriff School in the third round.

Bedford School, who won the tournament in 2006, are through to the third round following a first round bye and a comfortable 50-0 win at Redborne Upper School and Community College in the second.

Bedford now face a third round tie at Queensbury Upper School.
