Another weekend of high- scoring matches in National League One witnessed a shock result at Crow Trees where previously unbeaten league leaders Fylde

suffered their first setback of the season. Mark Nelson’s side conceded five tries to Blaydon, three of them going to impressive younger winger Fraser Wilson.

Leaders Ealing, though, made it six wins from six after putting a half- century of points on Wharfedale. Inevitably, Phil Chesters got on the scoresheet with a

brace of tries, however he had to play second fiddle to fellow wing, Owen Bruynseels, who crossed for a hat- trick in a 29-53 win.

Macclesfield took advantage of Fylde’s slip up to move into second. But Geoff Wappett’s men were pushed all the way by Cambridge who threatened to

comeback from 19-0 to win the game. Tom Fidler’s try eleven minutes from time put Cambridge in front for the first time in the match, however Tom Eaton

stepped up to kick two penalties to hand the Blues a bonus- point victory.

Coventry moved up the table to fourth with a 22-34 over Barking, who crashed to a fifth straight defeat, but Midlands rivals Stourbridge now find themselves in

the bottom three after a 20-25 defeat to Blackheath. They replace Cinderford in the drop zone after the Forest of Dean outfit upset the form book to beat

Jersey. Elsewhere, 17 points from Ross Laidlaw helped Rosslyn Park record a 37-24 win at Tynedale and Sedgley Park ran in eight tries in a 55-34 win over

Birmingham & Solihull.
