Your News Swanage and Wareham 15 - Swindon 9

Swanage & Wareham took on Swindon in their fourth league match of the season, desperate for a win, but the Swindon outfit had won their first three games so it was not an enviable task.

It was quite tight for the first five minutes, but a long kick by Swans full back Paul Dunsford put the home side in a strong attacking position. From the resulting line out, Swans put the ball all the way from one wing to the other and winger Jonnie Blackmore went in for a try in the corner. Swindon were not to be outdone and after twelve minutes fly half Adam Westall reduced the lead with a penalty kick(5 – 3). The game see-sawed with both sides having some advantages moments, and Swans kicker Charlie Rowberry landed a penalty kick half way through the half.(8 – 3). Swans play was much better than in previous weeks, especially the defensive tackling, but then they gave away another penalty which Westall converted to bring the interval score to 8pts – 6.

Swans started the second half with a clean break by winger Charlie Rowberry, who split the visitors defence in the first minute, and ran in a try under the posts. He added the extras himself to give Swans a 15 – 6 lead. The rest of the half was hard fought with both sides going close with a couple of penalties, but as time went on it looked as this was going to be the final score. However with about two minutes to go to the end of the game Westall landed another penalty goal to give the visitors a losing bonus point at 15pts – 9 pts.
