Your News Minchinhampton 51 - Dowty 0

Dowty arrived with a large squad at Marling and with a few familiar faces away for the home side Hampton knew it was vital to make a strong start.

Minchinhampton got the start they wanted with the pack securing good ball at the break down giving the backs a great platform to mount their attack from. Minch scored with their first visit into the oppositions 22 with Sam Hester slotting a penalty. Minch continued to dominate with the back row including Andy Voss, Tom Goulding and Niall Kimber working extremely hard in the loose. Minchís first try came soon after with Matt Gingell going over for his first try for the club.

With Minch on the front foot captain Jake Muskett began to pull the strings at fly half and the tries continued to come with Rich Humberstone scoring in the corner and Hester going over for his first try of the day. Dowty had no answers to the excellent running rugby with Miles Owen punching holes in the Dowty defence at will and Stu Allen running great lines in attack. Two quick tries from Hester completed his first half hat trick and a great first half performance.

Dowty made several changes at the start of the second half and pressed Minch, however Hamptonís defence stayed strong with Pete Varley and Jon Llewellyn working hard in the scrum. Goulding got himself on the score sheet soon after tenacious work in the loose led to a great try, this was quickly followed by Owen who scored a well deserved first try for the club. The final word went to Hester whose speed helped him to evade the Dowty defence and score his fourth try of the day. Overall a superb well drilled team performance, showing that not only can they score tries but defend valiantly.
