Yatton vs Cirencester

13 15

Yatton Scorers - Tries W Portis, E Ryder-Smith; Pen G Osborne

A young reshaped Yatton loose lead with 90 seconds to go

Yattons first home game of the season, in front of a good crowd of knowledgeable support, started with a shock try against them from wing Andrew Halse, through the middle, converted with only three minutes on the clock.

Yattons newly formed young 1st XV then settled and after the visitors penalty, just into the second quarter of the game, they fought up the slope and against the breeze for George Osborne to get then started with a three points penalty conversion and five minutes of the first half to go.

Sweeping back up the field from the restart, intense attacks in the 22 finished with Yattons centre Will Portis, in his 1st XV debut, collecting the bounce from a clever box kick to scamper and over make the score 8-10 at halftime.

As Yatton piled on second half pressure, shortly after being adjudged held up over the oppositions tryline, flanker Ed Ryder-Smith took a quick tap penalty and bulldozed through to give his team a three point lead at 45 minutes.

Yattons territorial advantage for the remainder of the match seemed to suggest that they would score again but as time wore on the weather began to turn foul, spilt wet ball frustrated attacks and suddenly spectators ran for cover under the veranda as heavy wind driven rain lashed down.

In the final minutes dogged and determined Circenster used their speed merchants of fullback and wing to interplay up the left wing and a missed tackle exposed a hooker against back division overlap. Halse, who had started the afternoons point scoring, grounded the ball for his second try with 90 seconds left on the clock.

This Saturday Yatton 1st XV travels to moneyed and newly promoted Chard. Yatton 2nd XV are at home to Old Sulians and the 3rd XV have a friendly? also at home against Avonmouth.

Yatton 3rds vs St Bernadettes 3rds

Yatton Scorers - Tries 2 N Serman, S Lovell, S Norton, M Pope, L Marshfield; Kicks N Serman.

Yattons 3rds race into 2nd in their League thanks to high try tally

At the start the game seemed to be a mismatch of roles with visitors St Bernadettes looking physically bigger in every department.

However it was Yatton who eventually showed how open rugby can be played from the kick off.

Ten tries were scored throughout the match which turned out to be a large crowd pleaser.

By half time the scores were fairly close but Yatton pulled away after the visitors initial show of brute strength at the beginning of the second half.

All the homeside players stepped up to the mark and produced outstanding effort. Tries for Yatton being clocked up from Neil Sermans brace, as in last Saturdays game, one a piece from Steve Lovell, Shaun Norton, Matt Pope and Lewis Marshfield with all the kicks from Sermans trusty boot putting Yatton 3rds at 2nd position in their league.
