DUNSTABLIANS will officially the new floodlights at their Bidwell Park headquarters on Friday September 2.

The new match and training lights cost £71,000 have been part-funded by the RFU Capital Investment Programme and the Rugby Football Foundation. The CIP award towards the cost of the project was £47,413 with a further £6,000 grant from the RFF Groundmatch scheme.

The lights will be switched on during an evening of youth rugby at Bidwell Park involving all of Dunstablians’ junior sides from Under-7s to Under-15s and local dignitaries will be present to help the Bedfordshire club celebrate a significant addition to their facilities.

The Rugby Football Foundation is a Charitable Trust established by the Rugby Football Union. The purpose of the Rugby Football Foundation is to promote and develop community amateur rugby in England.

The Foundation is responsible for a substantial community rugby programme which includes the provision of rugby development officers, the training and development of referees and the production of coaching and technical material.

The Foundation also administers a Capital Fund for the financing of capital projects aimed at improving facilities which lead to the recruitment and retention of rugby players.

The RFU Capital Investment Programme is the capital funding element of the RFU's Whole Sport Plan funding allocation, secured from government.
