Horsham Rugby Club in Sussex have been on an innovative publicity drive, producing their own marketing video to send to sponsors and members, and available to view online.

Filming for the video took place over two weekends, taking in the first XV, general shots of the grounds and clubhouse, and the club’s minis and juniors - all 400 of them!

Local MP Francis Maude was also keen to be involved along with the local council chief executive. Both recognised the value of the club to the local community and the excellence of the coaching provided to youngsters.

The club have a strong and enthusiastic committee working towards a new clubhouse, and always open to ideas to get the message of their success out to potential sponsors.

It came to their attention that one of the junior dads, Richard Brock, was a TV producer – and the volunteer spirit quickly came to the fore as Richard took on the job of producing a film that showed the club at its best.

Richard wrote the script, checking with club officials on the facts and that it gave the right message. He persuaded a camera operator friend, James Oprey, to do all the filming, editing and dubbing for a nominal fee – and the result is a professional high definition film that explains the club, its history, its place in the rugby world and in the local community.

It has already had hundreds of hits and is a fantastic tool to be used by Horsham’s development and marketing team.
