Your News Oadby Wyggestonians U11 48 - Deepings U11 50

Deepings Under 11s made a winning start to the season with a nail-biting victory away at Oadby.

Deepings completely controlled the first 20 minutes running in a total of seven unanswered tries. Josh Lynch picked up where he left off last season scoring five of the seven, while a determined run from George Robinson saw him over the line, and an excellent move from Anthony Thomas followed by some quick passing between the backs saw Adam Organ in for the seventh just before half time. Adam also converted four of the seven tries to see Deepings ahead 43-0 at the break.

After the break Oadby were a different team, quite literally. With a large squad, the home side was able to make a complete team change and the fresher legs soon started to show, scoring four unanswered tries and converting one to reduce the deficit to 43-22. A Josh Lynch try and Adam Organ conversion restored a healthy lead, but it was to be Deepings last score of the day.

Despite strong individual tackling performances from Matthew Lindlay and Ben Rockcliffe, Oadby continued to score and, with 15 seconds to play had the opportunity to level the game with a conversion. But the kick hit the woodwork and, after the restart, Bobby Pearce snuffed out Oadbys final attack by forcing them into touch, ensuring Deepings held on for a 50-48 win.

Deepings team: Alistair Jones, George Robinson, William Gaches, Matthew Lindlay, Bobby Pearce, Tyler Widnall, Kyle Widnall, Anthony Thomas, Josh Lynch, Riley Payne, Ben Rockcliffe, Adam Organ
