Your News Deepings 2XV 5 - Market Harborough 69

The Deepings IIXV took to the field for the first time this year on Saturday with a number of players making their senior debut or returning after a long lay off.

Not surprisingly there was a lot of rust to knock off the boots.

Market Harborough brought a team to Deepings that was probably the antithesis of this, having played together for a number of years and they worked together well.

It soon became apparent that the Deepings side were going to have difficulty meeting this teamwork and despite the home team having the better of the scrum, early pressure only resulted in Market Harborough scoring a break away try.

This set the pattern of the game with Deepings playing well individually but not quite together enough as a team to cope with the organised play of the visitors and they continued to concede scores at regular intervals.

Deepings did manage to work a good try with most of the team on the pitch being involved in the build up with the mighty forwards completing the last few phases of play to go over the try line for a consolation score.

The final score of 5 69 did not reflect the difference in skill between the two teams.

On a positive note many performances from the Deepings players suggested that this is a team who will develop and produce more rounded performances in the future.
