LEIGHTON Buzzard junior players and parents raised £440 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance from old rugby kit.

They old rugby kit or items they had grown out of to the cause and then paid money to take other donated items away.

Mike Stacey, Leighton Buzzard mini and junior chairman, said: “The initiative has been a great success and the East Anglian Air Ambulance was a worthy benefactor, especially as they had to attend the club a couple of months ago to take an Under 16s injured player to hospital with a suspected neck injury.

“Thankfully the player made a full recovery and we are very grateful to the air crew who provided him with excellent pre-hospital care. The East Anglian Air Ambulance is run completely from charitable donations so we felt we would do our bit to say thank you."

Leighton Buzzard presented the cheque to David Swain a representative for the East Anglian Air Ambulance at the club’s junior dinner.
