BURNTWOOD President Bob Osbourne will again be using his President’s Day at the Staffordshire club to raise funds for Help for Heroes, the charity organisation which helps wounded servicemen and women in the Armed Forces.

A busy day of activities is scheduled at Burntwood’s Sportsway headquarters on Maty 21 including an appearance by the Black Knights Parachute Team who are scheduled to drop in at 12.30pm.

The day will begin with junior football matches organised by Burntwood Dragons FC, one of the several associated sports clubs based at The Sportsway.

Two rugby matches take centre stage in the afternoon. The first sees a Burntwood Select XV take on a Help for Heroes XV made up of serving and ex-serving members of the Armed Forces and emergency services.

This will be followed by a Staffordshire Clubs Select side who will play a second Help for Heroes squad.

The junior members of Burntwood will the take on the juniors from the Burntwood Dragons FC in their version of a navy gun run – manhandling training equipment over an obstacle course.

The day will be rounded off with a disco in the clubhouse courtesy of resident DJ Dancing Dave.

Other attractions during the day include a military band, a hog roast and barbecue, bouncy castle, funfair rides, pony rides, raffles and Help for Heroes merchandise. Among the military organisations attending are the Band of Brothers.

Entry is free but on-site parking is just £2.

Last year the event raised nearly £7,000, a figure that Burntwood hope to surpass.
