Barking were just 60 seconds from going through the entire season unbeaten and claiming the National League One title only to have their dreams shattered

by a long- range intercept try from London Scottish wing David Howells. A bumper crowd of 2,125 turned up at Goresbrook to see the title- decider, and they

were treated to a full- blooded encounter that went right down to the wire. With time running out Howells successfully read an attempted miss pass from

Barking fly- half Will Nelson to race 80 metres and win the game for Scottish who had previously been unable to add to Lewis Calders 3rd- minute try.

Sedgley Park were also in celebratory mood after securing their place in National League One with a home win over Macclesfield. Going into the game

needing at least two points to stay in the division, Park recovered from conceding an early try to run out 26-19 winners. Full- back Stephen Nutt, currently in

his second spell with the club, turned in an inspirational display to score two tries and kick a couple of penalties. Phil Jones and Tom Holmes also crossed the

Macclesfield line to ensure a happy end to an otherwise difficult campaign for the Tigers.

Bottom- of- the- table Launceston signed off in style with an eight- try victory over Stourbridge. Star centre Ryan Westren helped himself to a brace of tries

and kicked five conversions. Winger James Hawken also crossed twice and there were further scores for Kieron Lewitt, Palepoi Nonu, Chris Chew and Josh

Lord.
