Hello again everyone and welcome to issue 76 of LucsLine, I am afraid
there is not much to report on this week as the Club only had one rugby
fixture last week, that was the 1st XV game at Loughborough Students. I
had hoped that we would have a report from the Cricket section, as I
believe the 1st XI had a warm up fixture with Burghill but at the time this
issue is being sent out I have not received any information regarding that
fixture.
This weekend sees a close to the first season in National League for
Luctonians 1st XV it has without a doubt been a tremendous journey for all
those involved, a journey that will be long remembered and last week’s
game against the Students will certainly be one of the games that sticks
in the mind for a long time to come. It was a game that with hindsight
should have been a Luctonian victory, a few new faces in the side to
replace those players that have been added to the injured list, yet again
stepped up to the plate when the question was asked. It is a thing that
has impressed me all season, a young player, some of whom have come up
through the Luc’s ranks have pulled on the jersey and played with total
belief and commitment. It would have been interesting to know the
average age of the squad last Saturday; I would have thought we could
have been looking at one of the younger Luc’s 1st XV that has been put
out.
The committee of Loughborough Students made the travailing faithful
feel very welcome both before and after the game. So we are off to Leicester Lions this coming Saturday if anyone would like to join us, give
Robin East a ring on 01568 614436 as there may well be spaces still
available on the bus.
I realise this is a bit short and sweet, but I am afraid it’s the time of
year.
