SCARBOROUGH Rugby Union Club have been combing the Broad Acres to pull together two cosmopolitan teams to take part in a Christchurch Earthquake and Japan Tsunami Appeal Charity Match on Easter Monday, April 25 (3pm) at their Scalby Road headquarters and they have certainly brought together an eclectic mix.

Billed as A Yorkshire XV v An International XV, the match is the centrepiece of an afternoon of rugby entertainment which kicks off at 1pm with a game between the Yorkshire Terriers touring team and a Coast XV.

A collection of players from the Southern Hemisphere who have been plying their trade in the Yorkshire leagues has been assembled under the management of Tevita Vaikona, with Beverley, Malton & Norton, Scarborough, Heath, Sheffield, Ilkley, Bradford Salem, Bridlington, York and North Ribblesdale among the clubs whose players are supporting the project.

The Yorkshire XV is drawn from clubs of a similar level and in a number of cases, team-mates will be in action against each other, but adding to the club mix will be players from Castleford, Dinnington, Selby, Bradford & Bingley and Driffield.

Rugby folk who cannot attend but would like to make a donation should contact organiser Matty Jones on matty.jones @
