Salisbury, having not played Olney in over 10 years, travelled a long distance to be warmly welcomed by the recently promoted outfit. On a blistering hot day the first 10 to 15 minutes of this encounter was sun kissed but without any scoring opportunity. Salisbury took the first spoils, with a blindside move seeing Ollie Elford running clear to offload to Johnie Campbell-Jones who ran to open Salisbury's account. Approaching half time Olney came good with a try to take the score into the break 5 all. Salisbury gave away a penalty and Olney stepped up for the extra 3 points. A rare occasion of decent ball gave Christian Metson the opportunity to break through to take Salisbury's lead to 12-8 with Liam Gilbert's conversion. Throughout the afternoon, not a high quality of rugby was witnessed and towards the dying moments of the game Olney scored late to take their converted try to a 15-12 lead. The home side putting the pressure back on to Salisbury with not enough time to rectify their away misfortune. Phil Carr was unlucky to get a try disallowed which made all the difference with the final score. Salisbury will be disappointed with this performance and face a stiff task against old rivals Swanage and Wareham on Saturday. Their only advantage is that they are playing at home with a kick off of 3 p.m.
