Your News Yatton under pressure

Three teams are expected to be relegated from Western Counties North at the end of this season. Yatton’s 1st XV slid into this division after having managed three seasons in South West One and currently they sit precariously at fourth from the bottom, i.e. one place above the drop zone.

Second from the bottom are St Marys Old Boys who have so far played two games less than Yatton, should they win both those games collecting bonus points on the way they will level peg Yatton.

But the more immediate danger are the third from the bottom Cirencester 1st XV, who have played the same number of games, and like Yatton have just two league games left to play. This coming Saturday (Kick Off 3-00pm) Cirencester travel to Yatton, if they should win even by one match point they will overtake Yatton and put the home side into the drop zone. Cirencester are not an easy side to do battle with as they have proven during the season – they suffered a swingeing reversal of 25 points earlier in the season, being heavily penalised for administrative shenanigans apparently, but all credit to the players they have battled through that deficit by winning games and now stand where they are, undoubtedly all fired up.

This Saturday’s game will be the toughest challenge yet for Yatton’s 1st XV, have they got the players available and the motivation to avoid this defeat – come along and see for yourself!
