Yarnbury Hornets 3 – 30 Sheffield Tigers 2nd XV. Sat 19 March 2011

Top of the table Sheffield Tigers were visitors to Brownberrie lane this week. On the back of three consecutive defeats the Hornets made a good showing leading for most of the first half through a Daniel Pound penalty. The lead could have been greater as the Hornets enjoyed periods of territorial dominance taking ball from Tigers both in the scrum and lineout. In the second half the Tigers showed their ability and through strength and pace started to boss the game eventually running out comfortable winners and keeping the Hornets tryless despite having two men spend ten minute spells in the sin bin after the half time break.

Yarnbury 3rds 55 v Harrogate Pythons 23

Yarnbury scored early on and it was evident we had the legs on the older opposition.Luckily for Yarnbury we had plenty of pace and when they did manage to string a passage of play together and get behind the opposition Yarnbury were simply too quick for Harrogate.Try scorers included Cowley (2), Joe Pinnick (2 ), Tom Hunter (2), Adam Roebuck (2) Bainbridge (1). Special mention and welcome to Joe Pinnick, it was a pleasure to watch him play and testament once again to the environment created by the 3rds, whereby a young lad can slot into the team and express himself in a back row display he can be proud of. We look forward to picking him again and no doubt watching him rocket upwards through the senior sides. Harrogate were very complementary about Yarnbury’s perfect blend of young and old confirming that it is a good environment for the youngster to practice and perfect their skills.
