LIVERPOOL St Helens and Otley will be sharing the Twickenham spotlight with England and Scotland on Saturday (March 13, 2011) when their representatives attend the RBS Six Nations Championship International as guests of the Rugby Football Union.

The reason for the pair’s attendance is the formal presentation of plaques to celebrate the acquisition by the two clubs of the RFU’s Whole Club Seal of Approval accreditation, a major landmark in the development of every club which confirms their elevated status as being among the best-run organisations in the country.

LSH have honoured two of their top ladies by inviting them to represent the club. Child Welfare Officer Trude Houghton and Mini-Junior Registration Secretary Elaine Smith are to receive the club's Whole Club Seal of Approval Award on the pitch during the half time interval.

“I have always enjoyed watching rugby,” said Trude, who has been involvement at the club since starting as a 16-year-old Moss Lane cloakroom girl: “But have never seen a live international before and am really looking forward to it”.

Elaine first became involved with LSH four years ago when her son Adam, now in the under 10’s, joined the mini section. She said: “I’m just looking forward to representing the club and enjoying the whole experience”.

LSH were one of the first 50 clubs in the country to receive the Whole Club award which assesses every aspect of a club’s infrastructure and was created two years ago to take the Junior & Youth SoA accreditation to a more advanced level.

It is an even more challenging benchmark, but across the game clubs are signing up to both disciplines and putting in place procedures and programmes that deliver the highest levels of safety and support to anyone joining a rugby union club.

“As well as being professional and thorough in everything they do, they both work tirelessly for the club and really deserve to have a great day out”. said Chairman John Bithell: “That’s precisely why Trude and Elaine were chosen to represent our club on this great occasion.”

Joining them at Twickenham will be Otley Chairman Paul Carter, who will represent the Cross Green club.
