Your News Millwall 86 - Brightlingsea 3

MILLWALL went behind to an early penalty but then piled on a staggering 14 tries to no reply to see off Essex Division 1 rivals Brightlingsea.

Karl Mitchell ran in a hat trick of tries while stand-in captain Gareth Williams skippered the Isle of Dogs team for the second time this season.

Williams proved a lucky charm after having captained the team in Millwall's away victory over the same opposition earlier this term.

Coach Dave Roberts hailed his team's win, which keeps Millwall on track for promotion to London Division 3, but warned his side they face a "fierce battle" away at Clacton on Saturday (March 12 2011).

"Brightlingsea got the first points through a penalty but then we simply took over," he said.

"It was a good result but one we didn't learn much from.

"It is one of those games from which we take what we can and then move on.

"We are looking forward to a fierce battle with Clacton this Saturday."
