MIDLANDS Women continue their programme in the RFUW Divisional Championship when they play London & SE at Banbury RFC on Sunday March 6.

The Midlands edged out the North in a thriller in their opening match at Longton last month and they now face a London side who beat the South West last time out.

Andy Paton, the RFUW Divisional Talent Development Officer for the Midlands, said: I know the coaching team and the squad are really looking forward to this next match in the Divisional programme and will be looking to build on the first performance which saw them defeat the North in a close hard game.

This match will be a very tough encounter against a strong London and South East side who also won their opening game of the campaign.

I am looking forward to a game of flowing rugby in which I am sure both sides will look to use their exciting backs and play the game with width. To add to that both sides have forwards with England A experience and that all adds to what will be a fantastic game.

The RFUW Divisional Programme forms an integral part of the RFUW Player Pathway, which can see players from u15s upwards progress from playing club rugby to potentially representing their country. Current England stars who have qualified through the player pathway include Margaret Alphonsi and Emily Scarratt

Players selected for the Divisional Programme have been selected by their Constituency Body and if they are successful could go on to try out for England this season , or qualify for the Under 18s and Under 15s RFUW National Talent Development Groups, which looks to develop the future talent of England Womens rugby.
