Your News Ledbury youngsters to run round the clock for Injured Players

YOUNGSTERS from Herefordshire club Ledbury will take part in a 24 hour charity run next month to help raise funds for the RFU Injured Players Foundation.

Players from Ledburys Under 15 team will move a rugby ball continuously around the outside of a rugby pitch for 24 hours, starting at 1pm on Saturday March 19, continuing throughout the night under the Ross Road floodlights and finishing at lunchtime on Sunday March 20.

Players will take it in turns to run the ball around the pitch and are busy raising sponsorship. The money raised will be divided between the RFU IPF and funds for Ledburys tour to Ireland in April.

The RFU IPF supports people who sustain a catastrophic injury while playing rugby. The charity provides help and support for both players and their families in the months following of these injuries as well as in the long term. It also incorporates the former SPIRE Rugby Trust charity.

In addition to this support, the charity takes an active approach to conducting and supporting research and education aimed at preventing injuries. It also works to identify how injured players can be helped more effectively.
