Seghill began the strongly, forcing visitors Newton Aycliffe to defend early on.

The Home pack were dominant in the muddy conditions and pushed Aycliffe back onto their try line. It was only a matter of time beofre one of the forwards found a way through, and on 7 minutes, Andrew Stephenson dived over to open the scoring.

This fired up the visitors and, 6 minutes later, they levelled the score with a try down the left wing.

When Seghill conceded a penalty on their 5 metre line, Aycliffe took the advantage with another try, and then increased their lead five minutes before the break, with a try in the right corner.

Although Seghill piled on the pressure, Aycliffe defended well to maintain their 10 point advantage at half time.

Early in the second half, Seghill narrowed the deficit. Jake Armstrong chipped the ball forward from the half way line. He chased the ball, and won the race to the line to scoreand then added the conversion.

Seghill made changes to both the pack and back line, and soon regained the lead when Craig Wood dived over after Seghill had forced Aycliffe back onto their line.

When a strong run from Liam Lonsdale was stopped just short, the Seghill pack piled in again, forcing the Aycliffe defence into more errors, and Neil Renney dived over for Seghill's fourth try. Armstrong again adding the conversion.

Dan Avis collected the ball on his own try line, after Aycliffe had kicked up field. He danced his way through the Aycliffe defence, and was stopped just short of what would have been an extraordinary try. When Aycliffe were penalised because the tackler did not release, Armstrong added the three points with a cool penalty kick from in front of the posts.

Although the visitors hit back with a converted try late on, it wasn't enough to prevent Seghill from recording another home victory.
