Kenilworth began their build up to their second season in Midlands 1 with a workmanlike performance in a game that was curtailed to 2 x 20 min sessions following a request from opponents Camp Hill at the end of the second session. In the sessions played a number of tries by Kenilworth were scored for no reply.

This was a big disappointment to coach Ian Fergusson who, with a number of new recruits at his disposal, was eager to try out a number of permutations.

New players who played and have been signed up were:

Centre and ex England Internationalist Spencer Brown (see piccie)

Flanker Richard Smith and fly half Russell Clarke, both recruited from Lichfield and Luke Watts, a back row/second row from Broadstreet.

Also on show were three new forwards whose signings will be announced in the next few days.

Kenilworths pre season games continue with a home game against an Irish touring team, Old Bruffs from Limerick, on Saturday 23rd, 3pm; an away game in Jersey on the 30th August and an away game at Leicester Lions on 6th Sept.

Kenilworth can now also confirm the loan signings of back row forward James Wadey and prop Tristan Wati from Rugby Lions. Both players turned out for Kenilworth in their pre season game against Camp Hill.

In addition last years loan signings from Rugby Lions, hooker Mat Davies and back Dave Clements, have now become permanent signings.
