Yatton Scorers - Tries B Osborne; Drop Goal J Bale

‘Yatton disappoint infront of Coach and large Home Crowd’

Based on territorial advantage and playing to the Ref’s whistle, North Bristol deserved their win last Saturday. But they were never quite sure until the final blast.

Yatton were forced to make a desperate last minute substitution at scum half, seconds before the kickoff, due to an injury in the warm-up.

North Bristol saw the player being carried off and was sharp and fired up straight from the kickoff, keen to beat Yatton on their home patch and make it a double victory for this season.

The visitors heavy pack and playing with the slope gained a scrum deep within the home sides 22. Yatton’s disarray gave flanker Alex Featherstone the chance to dive over within two minutes from the start, for the North’s only try.

Two missed penalty conversions by North within the first quarter would have added to Yatton’s woes.

At 30 minutes one of North’s lumpy second rows was yellow carded for spoiling Yatton’s attack in the red zone but their defence held and it wasn’t until deep into first half injury time that Yatton’s centre Bill Osborne levelled the score line, having broken through to touchdown and at that stage the home side looked to be on the ascendency.

But rested North Bristol pinned Yatton within their half for the third quarter except for one break through which faltered just inside the 22.

No 10 Alex Flannigan struck a long range penalty conversion minutes into the final twenty and Yatton’s Jon Bale traded that for a Drop Goal seconds later.

But Yatton’s performance in front of the disappointed large crowd of home side supporters too often looked ragged.

Flannagan’s penalty conversion clinched the victory at 80 minutes for North Bristol and his side remained on top and still full of fight throughout the stoppage time.

This Saturday Yatton’s 1st XV travel North along the M5 to 4th in the table Old Centralians.

Meanwhile Yatton’s 2nds face Keynsham 2nds at home and Yatton’s 3rds are away to Frome 3rds.
