SUNDERLAND will be hoping to repeat a 47-0 drubbing when they travel to bottom side Redcar this weekend.

Dan Abraham is unavailable so Jack Birkett makes a timely return to the side on the wing.

David Bains retains the scrum half slot after coming in as a late replacement last week and Matt Francis has to make do with a place on the bench.

Redcar have struggled all season, with their only victory coming against Medicals back in October and they have gone on to lose all five fixtures since.

Sunderland will be hoping for a repeat of their 47-0 victory earlier in the season and coach Fras Kennedy has upped the fitness sessions in training in a hope to avoid the second half slumps that have blighted their last two performances. Andy Hall is rewarded for his man-of-the-match display for the seconds last week with a place on the bench, with Ryan Buckley dropping down to the seconds.

The seconds entertain the crew of HMS Chatham and despite missing a number of players from last week will hope to be competitive against a side who are a complete unknown quantity.

A complete new back row is named, with Adam Smith, James Gaul and Penny replacing James Cogden (work commitments) Adam Reay (shoulder) and Craig Wilson (knee).

John Padget is unavailable, so Duncan Bain moves into the centres, with Dom Watson starting on the wing and Elliott Lewandowski retaining his place at fullback.

Sunderland thirds will be looking for a repeat of their victory over Bishop Auckland earlier in the season.

* Sunderland U13s staged a tremendous fightback only to succumb late on in a thriller against Alnwick.

Despite excellent, last-ditch tackles by scrum-half Ben Padget and flanker Adam Ashman, Alnwick could not be kept at bay – and great running from their centres led to a hat-trick of tries for their left wing – and a 17-0 lead.

Alnwick, though, snatched victory with a mazy run and score from their scrum-half in the final minutes as Sunderland’s defence struggled.

* Sunderland U11s started and finished much stronger than hosts Westoe in an entertaining 21-21 draw at Wood Terrace.

Sunderland were quickly in their stride, and went close on a couple of occasions through Kyle Elliott and Patrick Wilkinson, before Elliott touched down for a 7-0 lead.

Wilkinson bagged a second try, but Westoe rallied before prop Jamie Lawrence broke free, laying the ball back before Robison finished off.

, despite having two defenders on him, for a great team try.

Robison converted all three tries.
