Your News Derby to host LGBT History Month Rugby Festival

DERBY-based Rolls Royce RFC will be holding a festival for rugby clubs with predominantly gay membership at their Moorways ground on February 12.

The festival is being held as part of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans History Month which starts on February 1 and which was launched at Twickenham Stadium last November.

Teams taking part in the festival are expected to include the Bristol Bisons, Newcastle Ravens, Manchester Village Spartans, London-based Kings Cross Steelers and the Panthers, who are based at Rolls Royce in Derby.

Nic Scott, the RFUs Equity & Inclusion Manager said, The RFU is committed to supporting a game that welcomes everyone, whatever their background.

We were honoured to be asked to host the launch of LGBT History Month last year and this event was supported by these five clubs. The consensus from them was that we should hold an event to support LGBT History Month and with a new club now based in Derby this seemed the best location for a festival.
