Your News Macclesfield 33 - Blaydon 0

Blaydon's poor run of results continued with this 3rd consecutive defeat but whereas earlier setbacks had all resulted in a losing bonus point yesterdays effort at Macclesfield was a complete rout. Coming on the back of a 5 star performance against high-flying Cambridge last week the horror show was even more disappointing.

At the end of a competitive first half in which they trailed by 11 points, honours had been relatively even, but their all-round game went steadily downhill thereafter until Macclesfield were totally dominant in all departments.

Fly-half Tom Eton landed 2 penalties and prop forward Bill Robinson rumbled over in the corner to give Macclesfield their early points, but in response Blaydon's Kevin McShane had been just beaten to the touch and No8 Gavin Jones twice cut loose in great style.

The only highlights for Blaydon after the break came from Andrew Baggett who chipped over the full-back and raced through in vain and then a sniping break from Tom Rock.

The home side had all the possession and full-back Matt O'Reagan went clear to score from an excellent handling movement, and then ran in a similar effort soon after.

Scrum half Charlie Mulchrone got in on the act with an equally impressive brace of scores, one of them converted by Eton as Blaydon floundered, their cupboard well and truly bare
