The Chargers had it all to play for this week as they made the staggeringly long journey up pretty much the whole of the M6 to take on Carlisle Cougars. They were greeted with the traditional Northern weather of wind and rain and mud in what turned in to a grueling and energy sapping encounter.

The conditions proved to be the deciding factor in a game where both sides struggled to take control, Camp Hill being victors through some grit and determination. An unlikely 20 metre sprint to the line by hooker Becci Lewis showing that its not just spritely backs that can make the ground when it counts. The second a driving maul from a perfectly executed line out by the Chargers forwards followed by an equally well finished try by Jo Ryan spotting a gap as the maul started to turn.

In the bitter last few minutes the Cougars managed to pull one back after a loose Chargers pass was intercepted by a Calrilse centre, who ran the length of the pitch for a converted try. It proved too little too late as the game ended 12-7 in the visitors favour.

The Chargers now stand level on points with rivals Waterloo with a confortable advantage in points difference.
