Your News Rosslyn Park Ladies 13 - Woodbridge Amazons 29

Rosslyn Park made a strong start, their full back testing her Woodbridge opposite number with a run down the right. Woodbridge gave away too many penalties including one that hit the bar. A sustained period of pressure from the hosts eventually allowed their no4 Smith to score on 12 mins converted by their flanker Micklewright. The penalties continued to go Rosslyn Park's way and despite some signs of flair from a subdued Amazon's back line they had the better of the forward play and possession allowing Micklewright to take three more points. Woodbridge continued to concede penalties but got their ruck working better to feed Stearn and Stoppard-Baker who eventually used this good ball to get Stearn over for a converted try. The half ended with Woodbridge lapsing back into scrappy rucking and conceding another three points to Micklewright.

The second half looked like seeing a repeat of the penalty-fest of the first and even featured a yellow card but very soon it became apparent that the visitors had woken up and good forward play provided Johnson with a try on seven minutes. Shortly afterwards Stearn broke from defence to run from her own 22 to score. Injuries beset both sides and Rosslyn countered regularly, their no10 very nearly breaking through on the right. However Rickard tapped an Amazons penalty to score from her own 22 and the visitors forwards kept up the pressure offloading from a scrum on the hosts 22 for Stopard-Baker to make it four tries in the second half and 13 - 29 at the close.
