Cantabridgian’s experience prevails

A hot Cambridge saw a youthful Woodbridge meet their largest opposition yet. The visitors pack was clearly bigger and more experienced as their backs chased up the kick off clearance for Thomas to score a converted try. Both sides conceded two penalties kicked by Warrior Smith and Cantabridgian Graddage in the forward exchanges as the Cantabridgians forwards exploited their clear advantage. In the set piece Woodbridge held it's line-out well but struggled to hold possession in the rucks from which the hosts really tested the visitors defence. As the half progressed Cantabridgians forwards, Cowan, Wallacher and Ford, continued to dominate and set their darting backs, especially Eve, running attacks down the wing and exploited some Woodbridge tackling errors to be rewarded with tries by Graddage, Jounoux, Ford and James.

The second half saw a clearly less respectful Woodbridge start passing out to their backs with more aggression. Nbul put in some excellent runs and was also strong in defence. Passion and energy were not enough however as well organised Cantabridgians defence held the visitors at bay despite a number of penalty opportunities and a yellow card just short of the home try line. On ten minutes the hosts broke down their favoured left for Eve to score. The Warriors made a spirited attempt to attack and were hard working in defence especially substitute Scott Douglas but Cantabridgians game plan was solid and they established repeated platforms to launch McCormack and Graddage to score again and end the match Cantabridgians 59: Woodbridge Warriors 6.
